James Lloyd Metcalf, 67, of 2031 Division St., Murphysboro, died Wednesday at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro of an apparent heart attack.

He was born Dec. 8, 1900, in Benton, Wis., the son of James William and Annie Buchan Metcalf.

He was married to Pearl Stadel on Dec. 13, 1921, in Moline.

Mr. Metcalf attended the United Methodist Church of Murphysboro.

He was a custodian of military property at Southern Illinois University. He previously operated Metcalf Clothing store at 12th and Walnut in Murphysboro.

He leaves his wife of Murphysboro; a son, James F. of Edwardsville; a brother, William D. of Berwyn; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at fee Meyer Denny Funeral Home in Murphysboro. The Rev. Wlliam B. Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Cemetery, Murphysboro.
