MICHAEL KELLEHER CALLED. Michael S. Kelleher, a well-known former resident of this city, passed away at his home in Denver on Saturday last. Deceased was 51 years of age and was born in Mount Hope, N. J. He leaves a widow and four sons, Ray, Walter, Leo and Francis. Mrs. Kelleher was a Miss Cronan prior to her marriage. Coming to the county in 1879, he early identified himself with public affairs. Prominent in the Ancient Order of Hibernians, he held the office of state president of the order from 1908 to 1910. After his removal to Denver a few years ago he held the office of county president. In this city he was an active officer of the local A. O. U. W. for many years. As a marshal of Central City for six years, he perhaps is best remembered. Fearless, he fulfilled the duties of the office in an efficient manner. In the spring of 1896, he was shot while attempting to arrest a man by the name of Covington who fired his revolver at the officer, the bullet going through a door and entering Kelleher's breast. The funeral was held on Tuesday morning at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Denver. Many friends of the deceased, in this county, went to Denver Monday to attend the Inst sad rites. The remains were laid to rest in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
