Jesse Arthur "Art" Bacon was born on October 13, 1920 at home in Fullerton, California, the son of Jessie Monroe Bacon (1890-1975) and Lena Pauline (Zimmerman) Bacon (1890-1954) of 212 East Chapman Avenue.

He graduated from Fullerton Union High School in 1940 and was married on June 27, 1942 to his high school sweetheart Dorothy Alice Belyea (1921-2005).

On October 7, 1942, Art enlisted in the US Army Air Corps and was in Roswell, New Mexico before being stationed in Las Vegas, Nevada as a flying engineer on the B-17 aircraft, which eventually put him in the South Pacific with the 5th Air Force during World War II.

After the war Art worked as a letter carrier for the Fullerton Post Office, and he served as a volunteer fireman for the Fullerton Fire Department.

Later he worked for the North American Aviation at Rocketdyne and for Hughes Aircraft in Fullerton. He also owned and operated several businesses including a laundromat, a fast food restaurant and an apartment complex.

He had a passion for baseball and played in school, and with the passage of time, he joined Senior Softball and participated in many World Series games. When he retired from the game he was one of the oldest players at the age of 88, and along the way he also enjoyed golf, bowling and RV traveling.

Still living in Fullerton, Art was 92 years old when he passed away on February 26, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his wife, while survivors included his six children, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held at McAulay & Wallace Mortuary, and burial was in Loma Vista Memorial Park in Fullerton.
