Wikipedia notes that Vaughan was an architect who, in 1881, came to the United States from his birth country of England to design churches in the Protestant Episcopal and Roman Catholic denominations. He was one of the architects of the Washington National Cathedral, where he is interred.

Wikipedia also notes that shortly after his arrival in the US he married Mary Shellow and together they had ten children, but Find-A-Grave contributor Timothy Orwig states that "Henry Vaughan never married. He had no children. Read his biography, The Almighty Wall, by William Morgan."
