Born April 23, 1919, in New Haven, Conn., he lived in Escondido for 11 years.

Retired, he was a doctor of veterinary medicine for 35 years in Grand Rapids, Mich.

He served in the Navy as a Lt. JG in World War Ii and received the Distinguished Flying Cross.
