Vera Mae Meyers, 93, died Feb. 13, 2013, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Bethany Manor Chapel in Story City. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Bethany Manor Chapel in Story City. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell.

Vera was born May 1, 1919, in Elkader, to Erik E. Aarvig and Pearl Mae Clark. She married LeRoy W. Meyers on Aug. 26, 1939. She lived in Story City since 1940. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Jewell. She worked 18 1/2 years at Bourne's in Ames. She enjoyed gardening and flowers and kept busy doing crafts, crocheting, making china dolls and painting ceramics. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren were very special to her.

She is survived by one daughter, Deb Koester, of Fort Dodge; two sons, William C. Meyers (Remie), of Webster City, and John J. Meyers (Joyce), of Story City; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Janice Carpenter, of Story City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Patricia Turner; one son-in-law, Dick Turner; one grandson, Tim Meyers; one brother, Clark E. Aarvig; and one sister, Iva Nell Smith.
