Betsy "Jane" Cain Brown passed away Feb. 27, 2013, in Spokane, Wash., at the age of 74.

She was born in Hamilton to Gertrude and John Cain and was married to Walter Brown of Butte for 25 years. Together they had three children, Blain, Lora and Karen. Karen precedes her in death.

Betsy taught Sunday school at the First Presbyterian Church in Butte and loved to bake, with cinnamon rolls being one of her specialties. Many unpleasant chores were done with the bribe of one of her warm cinnamon rolls.

Jane was a very accomplished knitter and created many award-winning sweaters and afghans.

At the age of 55, Jane graduated from Eastern Washington University with a bachelor's degree in social work. Jane loved to help people and could always be counted on to be there for friends and family.

She is survived by her son, Blain Brown of Butte; daughter, Lora Higgins of Seattle; and former husband, Walter Brown of Butte. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Justin, Kristen, Donny, Felecia, Cassie and Janelle; great-grandchildren, Tanner, Jayna and Wylee; and her brother, Bing Cain of Anaconda.

Cremation has taken place in Spokane. Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home, with a reception to follow in the Wayrynen-Richards Community Center.

A profound thank you needs to go out to Bambi, Lee Ann and all the wonderful people who cared for her in the later stages of her life. Bambi, you are an angel and our hope is to be able to some day return the kindness and love you showed Mom for so many years.
