Lyle Dea Aiken, 91, formerly from the Spokane Wash., area, died peacefully on June 15, 2006, at his home in Alta Loma, Calif. Born April 27, 1915, in Valleyford, wash., he was a lifetime resident of the local area until 2005. Lyle graduated from North Central High School in 1933 and continued his education to become an agent/telegrapher for the Union Pacific Railroad in 1939.


He and his wife, Viola, lived nearly 30 years in Colfax, Wa., where he served for many years as a councilman and six years as mayor. Retiring from the UPRR in 1976 after 36 years, he joyously committed his time to golfing, fishing, hunting, and carpentry.


He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of forty years, Viola; his 2nd wife, Velda VanVleet, his brothers, Wayne and John; and his parents, Judge John Franklin Aiken and Ruby Agnes (Fairbrother) Aiken b. 1890 in MN.


We ask that you remember Lyle as a responsible citizen who deeply loved his family and friends and was committed to performing civic duties to help better his community.
