MIDLOTHIAN, TX - Ramona (Lazanas) Alisbo was born in Murcia, Negros Occidental, Philippines, the daughter of Pepito and Consolusion Lazanas. A sweet lady, a strong wife, and a devoted mother. She went to be with the Lord on February 25, 2013 from her home in Midlothian and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as well as with her husband Teotimo Alsibo, who preceded her in death.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Alisbo was also preceded in death by her parents; two of her seven children; and a brother.
Mrs. Alisbo was survived by five children: Eva (Alisbo) Fry (and husband John) of Santa Maria, California; Terri (Alisbo) Henthorn (and husband Ron) of the home; and Beth (Alisbo) Doctora, Ray Alisbo, and Edgar Alisbo, of the Philipines; thirty-one grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and numerous brothers and sisters in faith and in love, from Oak Crest Baptist Church, where she attended worship until her passing.
Mr. and Mrs. Alisbo were married for twenty-two years and in that time they lived on a small farm growing rice, sugar cane, various vegetables, and raised various farm animals (including a water buffalo, which helped to till their land). They lived through the invasion of enemy soldiers, having to hide their water buffalo, as well as Mr. Alisbo (lest he be killed or carried away into forced labor until he died). They fled to the mountains. The war finally ended, the enemy routed, they returned to their farm only to find everything burned to the ground or destroyed. Undeterred they rebuilt, replanted, stood proud and strong. Their seven children learned what it meant to be a family, to work together, to help others, and above all to love, follow, and trust in the Lord... serving others in His name.
One day, Mr. and Mrs. Alisbo decided that their children could receive a better education in a city school, so they moved. Teotimo worked in a meat market, while Ramona open a small cafe. Sadly, Teotimo soon became ill and died, so unexpectedly.
The widow Alisbo, a young mother of seven, once again trusted the Lord and taking one day at a time, got to work. She raised the children catering, sewing, and gardening. Everyone pitched in, for it was a family effort... and, together, they grew.
In 1988, long after all the children had grown, Ramona's daughter Eva invited her to California. There Ramona worked in the family nursing home, ministering to the elderly. Later Ramona moved to stay with her daughter, Terri, in Midlothian, Texas and there she stayed until the time of her passing. Ramona's body was interred in the Midlothian cemetery, but her spirit is with the Lord... and, one day, she will resurrect, gloriously, with Him Who has made her whole. Until then, she is greatly missed, by those who held her dear and loved her much more than their words could ever say.
Visitation was March 1, 2013, at the Singing Hills Funeral Home of 6221 University Hills Boulevard in Dallas, Texas and funeral services were, March 2, 2013, at Oak Crest Baptist Church of 1701 South 5th Street in Midlothian. Mr. Bob Osborne officiating; Billie Williams, grandson Mike Henthorn, and great-grand-daughters Calah and Trinity, all provided the blessing of music. Honorary pallbearers were: Mike Henthorn, Jimmy Henthorn, Tye Moore, Tommy Hunh, Caleb Casanova, and Peter Tschetter. Interment followed in the Midlothian City Cemetery.
