Mary Martha GAMBLE BORDERS was the dau. of Chester A. GAMBLE & his wife, Mary Mabel LINGO of Page Co, IA. She m. Everett Edcel BORDERS on 3 Jul 1949 in Long Beach, CA.

OBITUARY from The Torrington Telegram, Torrington, WY:
"Mary Martha Gamble Borders - DECEMBER 2, 1907 - DECEMBER 11, 2004
Mary Martha Gamble Borders, 97, former teacher and assistant principle at Compton Junior College passed away on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at her home. She was born on Dec. 2, 1907 in Page County, Iowa, to Chester and Mable Lingo Gamble. She attended school in Iowa, graduated from Tarkio College, Tarkio, Mo. She received her masters degree from North Western University at Evanston, Ill.
She taught English at Torrington, Chino and Compton Senior High and Junior College. When she retired she was assistant principle. She was united in marriage on July 3, 1949 in Long Beach to Everett Edcel Borders. He passed away on July 16, 1991.
They lived in Compton and Rossmoor. She was a musician, playing piano for churches in Iowa and Wyoming, played the music background for silent movies in Iowa theaters, helped organize a quartet in Wyoming. She provided music scholarships at Long Beach City College and contributions to the Everett and Martha Borders Music Room at Long Beach City College. She developed a passion for family history, enjoyed bridge and visiting.
She was an officer in the Rossmoor Women’s Club, Southern California Retired Teachers Association, Zonta, and Southern California Woman’s Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister Florence, and her husband Everett. She is survived by one brother, C. Lowell Gamble (Melva) of Bismarck, ND; nephews and nieces; two step-granddaughters, Pamela Ponsford and Jeannie Forsythe; great-nephews and nieces.
The funeral was held at Rose Hills Mortuary Chapel, Saturday, Dec. 18, conducted by her nephew, Robert Gamble of Maple Grove, Minn., and cousin, Richard Henderson of Pasadena, Calif. Memorials may be made to LBCC Foundation–Martha Borders Scholarship."
