Col McIlvaine & Capt Michael Keiser of A Company, were close friends and after the war, sometime in the 1880s, Keiser had McIvaines body removed from Chattanooga cemetery and brought back home to Mansfield.
~The headstone was provided by the U. S. Government by contract to West Rutland, Vermont, dated Aug ?, 18??. The numerals are very blurry on the card but the year probably lies between 1879 and 1903 as this was the period when the headstones were erected.
