Helen Doris (Davis) Hatchett died Wednesday, December 4, 1996, in Family Health West Nursing Home, of natural causes. She was 80. Memorial Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, December 9, 1996, at Fruita Methodist Church, with Reverend Alice McKee officiating. Cremation precedes these services.
She was born February 11, 1916, to James Louis Davis and Chessie (Johnson) Davis in Canute, Oklahoma. She spent her childhood in Canute, graduating from Canute High School. She received her BS in Education from Southwestern College in Weatherford, Oklahoma. She was a school teacher for 35 years.
Helen married J. C. Hatchett May 15, 1937, in Clinton, Oklahoma. He died June 15, 1994, in Grand Junction. She lived in Oklahoma, South Dakota, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota and Arizona before moving to Grand Junction in 1989.
She was a member of the Methodist Church and Eastern Star. Her hobbies were crocheting, sewing, knitting, reading, arts and crafts.Survivors include: son Jay Lynn Hatchett of Tuba City, Arizona; daughter Karon Sue (Hatchett) Hein of Grand Junction; sister Ruby (Davis)McGaugh of Elk City, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
