Mary was born in Greenwood, S.C., but has lived in the Atlanta area for most of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband George O. King, Jr. who has promised to be waiting for her when she arrives in heaven. She is survived by her children Gary King (Gloria), George King III (Kathy), Greg King, and Lynn King Crisp (Joe). She has always delighted in the fact that her son-in-law and two daughters-in-law were also her son and daughters. She also has four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mary was a member of Second Ponce de leon Baptist Church of Atlanta for many years until moving to Marietta where she became an active member of Roswell Street Baptist Church, Naomi Sunday school class, and the Sonshiners. Mary has been a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend during her time on earth and has always done her best to witness for Jesus. All who have known her, know that even though she is no longer on earth with us, God has a wonderful new angel. Mary has been an adamant Atlanta Braves fan all of her life and if God allows angels to interfere, any team playing the Braves will be in trouble.
Visitation was at H.M. Patterson and Sons Canton Hill, 1157 Old Canton Rd., Marietta, followed followed by funeral services with Tom Jones (Education Minister at Roswell St. Baptist Church) officiating. Interment was in Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Senior Adult Ministry at Roswell Street Baptist Church, 774 Roswell St., Marietta, Ga. 30060.
