Lena Jane Bailey passed from this life on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012 at the age of 83. She was born to John William Russell and Effie Delilah Grimes on April 7, 1928. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She was known for her strength and love for her family and friends. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and later First Baptist Church of Rice. She loved to do needle point, work puzzles and watch the Texas Rangers play baseball.
She is preceded in death by her husband Orin Delbert (O.D.) Bailey, her son, Michael Keith Bailey; father Will Russell and mother Effie Russell; brothers, Clifton Russell, Simp Russell, Leo Russell and Buford Russell.
She is survived by two sons, Russell Bailey and Larry Bailey and daughter-in-law Barbara Bailey; grandsons, Paul Bailey, Jeremy Bailey, Justin Bailey, Caleb Bailey, John Bailey, Jody Bailey, Jeremy Bailey, Douglas Bailey and Bradley Bailey; grandaughters, Shelly Tyler and husband Steve Tyler, Kelly Bailey, Julie Bailey, Jamie Bailey and Tiffany Bailey. She is also survived by great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, as well as several nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law Louise Bailey. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends as she brought joy to everyone she knew.
Services will be 12 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2012 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Huffstetler officiating. Private family burial at Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Bailey, Jeremy Bailey, Justin Bailey, Dickie Russell, Ricky Russell and Cain Slovak.
