Jose E. Alvarez 95, of El Paso Texas passed away February 19, 2013 in Grand Terrace, CA. He was born February 20, 1917 in Cananea Sonora, Mexico. He lived in Tucson, Arizona for 18 years and enlisted in the US Army. He was a veteran of WWII and on "D" Day, the landing at Normandy, his outfit landed on Omaha Beach. He also fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Purple Heart. He married his sweetheart Ruth and they remained in El Paso. He worked as a meatcutter for 34 years at the Ft.Bliss Commisary. He leaves behind his wife of 71 years. Also, his son Jimmy Alvarez, Daughters Gloria Irene Ramirez and Irma Z. Alvarez, Grandson; Martin Ramirez and Great Grandson Adam Ramirez. Jose will be buried at the Riverside National Cemetery, Thursday, February 28, 2013. Arrangements are under the care of Funeraria Del Angel Pierce Brothers.
