Dorothy Ann (DeMars) Albano, daughter of Jack R. DeMars and Irene M. Pederson, was born in Everett, Washington. Dorothy grew up in Auburn, where Jack was a principal and Irene worked in a bank. She earned both her BA and MA in Business and Administration from the University of Washington. Dorothy's family was very involved with baseball. On July 25th, Dorothy married her favorite player, Dominick Albano and remained his biggest fan. During their marriage, Dominick and Dorothy had two daughters: Amy and Annmarie.

Dorothy was a wonderful and dedicated mother. She served on the PTA, volunteered at school and in Camp Fire, sewed School Musical and Halloween Costumes, and went to all of her daughters' sporting and musical events. Her favorite places to be included Safeco Field and Disneyland, where she could often be found with her girls and close family friends. Most recently, Dorothy worked in the payroll department of the Mukilteo School District. She was so proud when Amy began teaching kindergarten and Annmarie got a job at the substitute desk, so they all "worked together." Dorothy also loved animals – especially dogs, cats, and horses – and in the last couple years of her life, she became inseparable with her Leroy Boy.

The ultimate fighter and example of strength, Dorothy was diagnosed with cancer over two and a half years ago. Dorothy was told she would not make it out of the hospital, but she was determined to prove everyone wrong. She survived to see Annmarie marry Christopher Gustafson, she saw Amy receive her Master's in Education, she celebrated her 60th Birthday, and (most importantly to her) she fought to be around for Anna's Baby Shower and to meet her first granddaughter, Halle Noelle. Grandma Dorothy was able to hold Halle twice!

She is survived by her husband: Dominick, daughters: Amy and Annmarie (son-in-law Chris), granddaughter: Halle, sister: Jan (brother-in-law Roger Bernasconi), nieces and nephew: Daniella, Lisa, and Joe, and great-nephew: Riley. Dominick also has three children from a previous marriage: Mike Albano, Anthony Albano, and Tanja Najera.

A mass will be held in Dorothy's honor on Friday, March 1st at 11:00 AM at St. Michael's in Snohomish. A viewing and Rosary will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home at 5 PM and 7 PM. Dorothy will also have a graveside service Saturday, March 2nd at 1:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery – reception to follow. Donations may be made in Dorothy's name to: The Humane Society (www.humanesociety.org) or Providence Regional Cancer Partnership (www.cancerpartnership.org).
