She was a graduate of St Francis Xavier High in Council Bluffs, IA, retired as a Social Science Analyst for the US Civil Service in Washington, DC and was a member os Ascension Catholic Church in Melbourne. She authored 2 books on the genealogy of her family that are now in the Library of Congress. Preceded in death by her husband, Charles, Sr and son James, surviving are children, Charles Jr, Kermit "Bill" (Susan) Hughes, Virginia EJ Hughes; grandchildren, Andrew, Jenny and Lisa and great-grandchildren, Jett and Jolie.
