Joseph Payich, 81 of Wethersfield, beloved husband for 55 years of Gloria (Lesoveck) Payich, died Saturday, (February 16, 2002) at the Brookview Convalescent Home, West Hartford. He was born September 15, 1920 in McAdoo, PA, and was the son of the late Paul and Mary (Zombor) Payich. Joseph was a World War II, U.S. Army veteran and a life member of the VFW, Hannon-Hatch, Post # 9929, West Hartford. He was also a member of the Barry Square Senior Citizens and had worked for the MDC for 38 years and was a member of the MDC, Twenty-Five Year Club. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Paula L. Casey and her husband, Robert of West Hartford; two grandchildren, Brian M. Casey of West Hartford and Beth A. Casey of Stamford; two sisters, Mary Shogi of Philadelphia, PA and Dolores Augustine and her husband, Paul of Lancaster, PA; many nieces and nephews, among them a very dear and loving niece, Barbara Blessington of Philadelphia, PA; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Rose Lesoveck of East Hartford. He was predeceased by three brothers; and three sisters. A special "thank you" to all the staff at Brookview Convalescent Home, West Hartford for all the care given and compassion shown to Joe and his family. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. at St. Luke's Church, Hartford. Burial with full military honors will be in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. Calling hours are Tuesday, 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Luke Church, 85 Bolton Street, Hartford, CT 06114.
