She met Valentino Ali during his military stay at Camp Stoneman in Pittsburg and they fell in love and were married in 1947 in his hometown, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. There they were blessed with one child, Valerie, and shortly thereafter returned to Pittsburg where they made their home.
Mother Ali was beautifully saved and filled with the Holy Ghost under the guidance of Bishop G.W. McGlothen at McGlothen Temple in Pittsburg. She later moved her membership to West Pittsburg Community Church of God In Christ under the leadership of Superintendent James C. Manning Sr., where her Grandfather Elder Sam Robinson and Grandmother Mother Pearl Robinson were founding members, as well as her mother and other members of her family. Mother Ali was an active member, serving in many capacities; usher board, secretary and choir. She had the unique opportunity to serve as third generation church mother following in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother. Mother Ali was also the President of the District Mothers' Board.
Many will remember Mother Ali for her cards and telephone ministry of encouragement and of course her delicious cakes. She always seemed to know when you needed her words of wisdom and spiritual guidance. Until she was called home she continued to encourage and provide loving guidance and shared her precious smile.Mother's smile will be missed.
Mother Hester Ali loved her family and friends and was a sincere mentor for younger women. Anyone who spent time with Mother knew she deeply loved "Valerie, Devlon and Lee Dell." She often warmly referred to Val as "Mama's one child." She was an inspirational, compassionate, and devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, godmother and friend.
She leaves to cherish her life, her devoted daughter Valerie Davis, son-in law, Lee Davis; grandson, Devlon Davis; sister, Evelyn Williams from Little Rock Arkansas; Uncle Deacon John White from Pittsburg California; Uncle and Aunt Ezell & Virginia Trice from Las Vegas Nevada; her goddaughter, Connie McGrue; and godson, Kevin Perkins. Mother also leaves a host of loving and devoted family, friends, and sisters and brothers in Christ.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Willie L. Trice; father, Joe Jackson; husband, Valentino Ali; her siblings: Carolyn Barting, Patricia Bobo, Jimmy Jackson; and her devoted and best friend, Thelma White.
