Jon T. Bangs, 77; of New Albany

Funeral services for Jon T. Bangs, 77, of New Albany, will be at 2 p.m. today, Monday, Feb. 25, at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook, Dieckmann and Naville Funeral Homes. Burial will be private. He died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at the Robert E. Lee Nursing and Rehab Center in New Albany.

He was a native of Jeffersonville and formerly attended Wall Street United Methodist Church in Jeffersonville. He was a former employee of Beach Mold and Tool and was a longtime member and board member of the Floyd County Token Club in New Albany. He spent several years devoting his time to the welfare and recovery of addicts, which was his passion later in life.

Survivors include his sons, Jon G. Bangs and his wife, Mary, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Jeffrey L. Bangs, of Leesburg, Fla.; a cousin, Donna Holland, of Jeffersonville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Don H. and Alice Tolan Bangs; a brother, Don H. Bangs Jr., and a sister, Ruth Bangs.
