Funeral services for Mrs. Alene Jarboe Buchanan, 34 years of age, were held Monday, December 5 at 2 p.m. from the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, with the Rev. A. H. Gregory in charge. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Mrs. Buchanan was born in Taylor County March 1, 1915 (stone says Feb). She died at the Kentucky Baptist Hospital in Louisville Saturday, December 3, at 11:45 a.m. Her sudden death came as a shock to her family and many friends. She professed faith in Christ at an early age in life and was a member of the Methodist church. At the time of her death, she was employed as a teacher in the Auburndale Graded School in Jefferson County, where she had been teaching for the past four years. She united in marriage to Frank Buchanan December 26, 1936 and to this union one son and one daughter were born: Barbara Ann and George Richard, both at home. Besides husband and children, she is survived by her father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Rafe Jarboe; one brother, Russell Jarboe, all of Russellville; one grandmother, Mrs. Toll Jarboe, of Taylor County, and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Jodie Willock, Mell Sinclair, Clement Sinclair, Garland Rose, Joe Allen, and Millard White.
