Henri (we prounounced it Henry) was a short haired, stubby-tailed white Manx/Siamese cat with beautiful light blue eyes. He was dearly loved by our family and our three poodles, who would pet him and bury their nose in his soft fur. He had his own chair in my shop and he spent hours watching me work at the bench and machines. He loved small children, and when they could not pick him up all the way, he would follow them with just his tip toes touching the floor. He had a very quiet meow and I never saw him angry about anything. He loved to lie in the shade in the front yard next to the St. John's Wort plant. When he died of leukemia, I made a bronze memorial for him and placed it in one of his favorite places. It reads: Henri Lawson The hunter is home from the hill.
