Pakistan President. A noted military personality Ul-Haq served as a general and a major general in the cabinet of Zulifikar Ali Bhutto, who served as Pakistan's Prime Minister and President. In 1977 though Ul-Haq ousted Bhutto during a military coup, naming himself as President of Pakistan. In 1979 Ul-Haq had Bhutto hanged. Ul-Haq served as President of Pakistan from 1977 until his death on August 17, 1988. Ul-Haq was assassinated along with United States Ambasassador to Pakistan, Arnold Raphel and Brigadier General Herbert N. Wassom when a bomb exploded on there plane in mid-air, on August 17, 1988.
