EVANSVILLE/BROOKLYN - Arvin R. Best, age 80, of Evansville, formerly of Brooklyn, died on Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at the Evansville Manor. He was born on Aug. 18, 1924, in the township of Brooklyn, the son of Harry T. and Lavina (Noggle) Best.
Arvin served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Margaret Faragher on June 4, 1964, in Madison. She preceded him in death in December 2002. Arvin farmed in the Brooklyn area most of his life. He worked in grocery stores in Evansville, and did television repair as a hobby on the side. Along with Margaret, Arvin enjoyed working on family genealogy.
He is survived by a brother, Alvin; and many nieces and nephews. Arvin was preceded in death by a brother, Ivan Best; and two sisters, Leota Ace and Ila Keehn.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 431 Soden Drive, at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2005, with the Rev. Howard Hintzman presiding. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
