Julia McCoy Bishop, 95, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013 at a local nursing care facility. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, February 21, 2013 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Mark Grinsted will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. They suggest that those who wish make memorial contributions to Lakeview Baptist Church Building Fund, 7065 Moseley Dixon Road, Macon 31220.

Mrs. Bishop, daughter of the late Daniel Webster McCoy and Sara Collins McCoy, was born in Macon and was a graduate of Lanier High School for Girls. She was preceded in death by her brothers, C.W. McCoy and Johnny McCoy, and her sisters, Reba Weaver Mullican and Martha Mullis. She grew up in Tattnall Square Baptist at Mercer University and was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church where she was a member of Women of Praise Sunday School Class. Mrs. Bishop was a seamstress retired from Macon Shirt Company and was Past Worthy Matron of Elberta Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. For many years, she had been a volunteer with the Cherry Blossom Festival. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her beloved family, her sons, Gene (Joyce) Bishop and Charles Bishop, all of Macon and Randy (Sue) Bishop of Milledgeville; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery has charge of arrangements.
