Obituary

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Morgan Funeral Chapel for Milford Calvin "Sonny" Howard, 80, of Attalla, who died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013. Bro. Jimmy Bailey will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Morgan Funeral Chapel and Crematory directing.

Mr. Howard was born in St. Clair County, Ala., on Dec. 3, 1932. Sonny was of the Baptist faith. He served three years in the U.S. Army as a Corporal in the 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Benning, Ga. He retired from Associated Groceries of Alabama after 29 years of service. Sonny was a devoted husband, daddy and granddaddy and was loved by all. He was an outgoing person who enjoyed life. He loved fishing, NASCAR racing, flea marketing, yard sales and old cars. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Tearl and Laura Howard; and sister, Virginia Carnes.

Survivors: wife of 60 years, Myrtle Odell Howard, Attalla; daughters, Linda Callaway, Birmingham, Lisa (Jimmy) Fore, Attalla, Louise Phillips, Attalla; sons, Lawrence (Cathy) Howard, Attalla, Scotty (Laura) Howard, Anniston; grandchildren, Stephanie, Sabrina and Adam Callaway, Seth and Cody Howard, Lindsey (Shawn) Chapman, Rachel Young, Ryan (Amanda) Fore, Bryan (Kayla) Phillips, Brandon Phillips, Jessica and Jason Howard; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Benjamin Callaway, Aiden and Heilegh Chapman, Carson Howard, Nicholas, Natalee and Allie Young, Kaylee and Rylan Fore, Cooper Phillips; sisters, Joan (Tom) Batson, Gadsden, Mildred (Billy) Graham, Anniston, Helen (Jack) Bullock, Gadsden, Carol (Charles) Carnes, Chelsea; brothers, J.T. (Frances) Howard, Pell City, Boyd (Sara) Howard, Pell City.

Pallbearers: Ryan Fore, Adam Callaway, Seth Howard, Bryan Phillips, Cody Howard, Nicholas Young, Jason Howard.
