Lucille E. Brouwer, 88, of Loveland died November 29, 2012 at McKee Medical Center. She was born November 8, 1924 in Ashland, Wisconsin.
Lucy was the youngest of 7 children. Her parents, Anton and Anna Aronson Wickman were Swedish immigrants and Lucy was proud of her heritage. She married John Brouwer on June 29, 1946 in Wisconsin. They moved to Colorado in 1953 and always called it home even though they traveled the United States with a 5th wheel trailer for over 7 years after they retired. They had a home at Carter Lake and raised their 4 children on boats and water skis. Lucy loved to entertain and for many years would bake over 50 dozen cookies of various types for the holidays.
Lucy is survived by her son Michael (Roberta) Brouwer of Ft. Collins, CO, Sharon (William) Abshagen of Durango, CO, Laurie (Kenneth) Hedger of Loveland, CO, Lisa Brouwer of Sarasota, FL , 5 grandchildren, Jonathan (Lindsay) Abshagen, Hollie Hedger, Kristi Brouwer, Lindsay (Dan) Szpara, Heidi Hedger, and 1 & ½ great- grandchildren, Sienna Szpara, and (TBD) Abshagen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, one sister, and her husband of 62 years, John.
Lucille with be joining her husband John at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to your local Disabled Veterans or Humane Society.
