ERIE, KS - Vera Eaton, 103, Erie, Kansas, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at Guest Home Estates, Erie, Kansas.

She was born Jan. 4, 1902, at Erie, Kansas.

She graduated from Erie High School.

On July 28, 1923, she married William Allen Eaton in Columbus, Kansas. He died July 9, 1993.

She lived in Garnett & Kansas City, KS, and Hayward, CA before returning to Erie in 1964.

She was a homemaker and taught music at Erie High School.

She was a member of the Erie Federated Church.

She was the first woman in Erie to receive a Kansas driver's license.

Survivors include a daughter, Joan Szony, New York, NY; two grandchildren, Jill Roeschel of Houston, TX, and Ference Szony of Reno, NV; two great-grandchildren, Brian Tompson of Houston, TX, and Franz Szony of Reno, NV; and one great-great-grandchild, Will Thompson of Houston, TX.

Cremation will take place. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery, Erie, Kansas, at a later date.

Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, Erie, KS, is in charge of arrangements.
