Rex C. Hankins, 65, of Mannsville, son of the late Sidney I. Hankins and Love Cox Hankins, died Tuesday, May 31, 1983, at his home. He was a member of the United Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tenn. He was employed at the Bryant Heating Corporation in Indianapolis, Ind. for 25 years before his retirement in 1975. He was a veteran of World War II, having served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Elkhorn Masonic Lodge #568 F&AM. He united in marriage to Mary Pruett Penn July 10, 1945. Besides his wife, Mary Hankins of Mannsville, he is survived by one daughter and two sons: Gail McDonald, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; Rex C. Hankins Jr. and Al Hankins, both of Indianapolis, Ind.; one step-daughter, Linda Lewis of Miami, Fla.; four grandchildren; one step-grandson; four brothers and one sister: Sidney I. Hankins Jr. and L. A. Hankins, both of Knoxville, Tenn., Joe Hankins of Atlanta, Ga., Dick Hankins of Philadelphia, and Omega Perrin of Charleston, S.C.; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 3 at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by the Rev. Travis Keltner. Burial was in Parrott-Turner Addition of Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Charles Grooms, Almon Wise, Melvin Wise, Roy Holt, Johnny Pennington, and Cleveland Minor.
