DAVENPORT - Sharon K. Hauger, 65, of Davenport, joined hands with the Lord at her home Monday, February 23, 2009, and walked into eternal peace after a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 28, 2009, 10 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to service at Runge Mortuary and Crematory. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Gilda's Club, Genesis VNA Hospice or American Cancer Society.

Sharon was born January 13, 1944, in Corydon, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph O. and Evelyn (Holmes) Nichols. She married Paul D. Hauger on December 12, 1962.

She was a purchasing agent for Alter and Sons for 27 years, and later working for three years at Lift Systems, Moline, retiring in 2008.

Sharon was a very strong compassionate woman, who never knew a stranger. She had an extraordinary love for life! She was passionate of many things, family, riding her Harley Davidson with family and friends for local and cross country rides, enjoyed riding horses, working in her flower garden and loved her two dogs, Bo and Angie. Sharon loved making photo albums and put together an amazing collection of her active duty daughter's deployment during 9/11. Her time, talent, support and love for the troops meant the world to her daughter and other service men and women.

Sharon's strong spirituality guided her desire to be baptized and be at peace with the Lord.

Those left to honor her memory include her loving husband, Paul, Davenport; daughter, Paula (Joe) Williamson, Santee, Calif.; son, Joe (Abbie) Hauger, Henderson, Nev.; grandchildren, Alexis and Tyler Hauger; brother, Curt (Barbie) Nichols, Culver, Ore.; sister, Ida (Richard) Kunch, Chariton, Iowa; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Joe, and sister, Wanda.
