Frances Virginia Washington LEWIS

LEWIS, Frances Virginia Washington Went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 26, 2010. Virginia was born on February 21, 1927 in Nashville, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, William T. and Irma Lavender Washington. She is survived by husband of 64 years, Howard C. Lewis; sons, Lindy Lewis, Jim Lewis; grandchildren, Rachel (Scott) Lewis Graves, Jessica Lewis and Jordan Lewis. Virginia was Homecoming Queen and vice-president of the student body at Isaac Litton High School, Class of 1944. She was a life-long member of Eastwood Christian Church which her parents helped start in 1930. She had been an executive secretary at Genesco until finding the career she loved most as school secretary at Ewing Park Junior High from which she retired in 1982. Visitation will be Wednesday at Madison Funeral Home 12 noon until 8 p.m. and Thursday 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Hartley officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Special thanks to Candy Campbell who has given such great care to Virginia and Howard. Honorary Pallbearers include Lloyd Alsobrooks, Lucien Battle, Richard Downing, Charles Myers, Dallas Myers, Ralph Perrin, Bill Williams and Wheeler Woodroof.
