Washington Observer, Washington PA, Friday 15 April 1966, page 24 - HOWARD G. VANCE, 1501 Stratmore Avenue, Crafton Heights, Pittsburgh 5, and formerly of Washington, died Thursday, April 14, 1966. He was born June 28, 1897, in Canonsburg, the son of HARRY G. VANCE and MELESSIA GERTHERIE VANCE and resided most of his life in Washington. Mr. Vance was a salesman for the Ames Window Cleaning Company of Pittsburgh and was a member of the Crafton Heights United Presbyterian Church. He was the husband of the late LEONA IRWIN VANCE. Survivors are a daughter, LAURA MAY, wife of JAMES G. C. MENDEL; two grandchildren, MARYLEE SCHULTZ and MISS MARILYN ANN MENDEL; two sisters, MRS. MARY V. RUDY and MRS. GLADYS PAUL. His brother was the late CARL A. VANCE. (Note: Mother's maiden name was Guthrie.)
