He was born June 28, 1897, in Canonsburg, the son of HARRY G. VANCE and MELESSIA GERTHERIE VANCE and resided most of his life in Washington. Mr. Vance was a salesman for the Ames Window Cleaning Company of Pittsburgh and was a member of the Crafton Heights United Presbyterian Church. He was the husband of the late LEONA IRWIN VANCE. Survivors are a daughter, LAURA MAY, wife of JAMES G. C. MENDEL; two grandchildren, MARYLEE SCHULTZ and MISS MARILYN ANN MENDEL; two sisters, MRS. MARY V. RUDY and MRS. GLADYS PAUL. His brother was the late CARL A. VANCE. (Note: Mother's maiden name was Guthrie.)
