Frances Ella Bannister, 100, of Effingham, formerly of Vandalia, died at 4:05 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Effingham.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Kurt Simon officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials: First Presbyterian Church in Vandalia. Mrs. Bannister was born on March 22, 1912, in Vandalia. She was the daughter of Lenn Harris and Sarah Davis Harris Cullen. She married Thurlow H. Bannister on Oct. 31, 1931, in Clinton, Ind.; he died on April 22, 1999.
She was a kindergarten teacher for more than 20 years in the Vandalia School District, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Vandalia and Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by sons, Larry Bannister and his wife Phyllis of Clever, Mo., and Bruce Bannister and his wife Judy of Effingham; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
