Second wife: MARY FRANCES HAMLET (July 14, 1854 - February 20, 1884, place of burial not known.) They had one son, George Washington Burton, (January 20, 1884 - January 29, 1884, place of burial not known.) Third wife was POCAHONTAS HARRIET INGRAM, married on December 25, 1884. They moved to Charlotte Co., VA in 1896.

Walter Jack Bailey and Virginia Edna Burton Bailey also had other children: Eleanor Bailey (1901-1972) married James E. Garrett, buried in Richmond; Clifton B. Bailey (1915-1984) buried in New Jersey; Harold Rudolph Bailey (1919-2005) buried in New Jersey; and Walter Jack Bailey, Jr., (1911-1911).

MORRISTOWN, NJ - Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Bailey of 275 Evergreen Avenue are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary tonight with a family dinner at their home. Mr. Bailey married Virginia Edna Burton on December 14, 1898, in Wylliesburg, VA. They had four daughters, Mrs. Elinor Garrett and Miss Christine Bailey of Richmond, VA, Mrs. Lucille Vasser of Clover, VA and Mrs. Gladys Smet of Succasunna, and two sons, Clifton and Rudolph of Morristown. Mrs. Smet and the two sons will be with them at the dinner tonight. Mr. Bailey is a retired tobacco grower from Wylliesburg, VA, and has lived in Morristown for 18 years.
