Funeral services for Mrs. Melissa Adams, Cedar county pioneer, were held yesterday afternoon from the Trinity Reformed church. Rev. Davis of the Christian church at West Liberty conducted the service. He was assisted by Rev. Paul H. Achterman of the Reformed church. Burial was in Rochester cemetery.

Cedar County Pioneer Dies at Wilton Home

Wilton, Ia. - July 25--Mrs. Melissa Adams, 73 years of age, widow of George Adams, died at 1:30 o'clock this morning at her home seven miles northwest of Wilton. She was born in Indiana, March 12, 1851, and was the daughter of James and Alma Jennings.

Mrs. Adams came to Cedar county with her parents when two years of age and has resided in the county since. She was united in marriage with George Adams, Jan. 23, 1873. He preceded her in death in 1894. Surviving are one son, Charles, five sisters, Mrs. G. Wilkerson of Iowa City; Mrs. Eunice Carney, Mrs. Helena Adams, Mrs. Charles Piper and Mrs. Vernon Walter sr., all of Cedar county, and two brothers, Frank of Cedar county, and Arthur of Tipton.

The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Trinity Reformed church of Cedar county, near Wilton.
