Born the 4th child of 12 to German immigrants Jacob Christoph Bieler & Bertha Margaritha Baumann who had immigrated from Lahr, Offenburg, Baden in 1853. August lived in Boston & worked as a clerk for most of his life. He married Lillian C. McAllister 22 Feb 1887 and they had two children. He died from cirrhosis of the liver & was buried 28 May 1904.
