Richard P. Wehrly, 79, (formerly of Marion) died Monday, January 29, 2012 in his home Calabash, NC.

Richard was born on December 2, 1933 at home in Jay County, Indiana to the late Frank E. and Kathryn V. (Mirgon) Wehrly. He graduated from Marion High School in 1951. He spent one year at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio before serving 4 years in the Navy. He married his wife of 54 years, Joanne Herndon in June 1958 in Norfolk, VA. She survives in NC. He went on to graduate from Ball State University in 1962. He went to work for the Social Security in Chicago for two years and then the remaining 35 years in Baltimore, Maryland. He and Joanne retired to Myrtle Beach, SC. He enjoyed coaching and referring his children's soccer, baseball and football teams. He referred on the college level.
