Robert W. Whiting, 66,of 54 North Street,Edmeston,New York, died unexpectedly Thursday, February 14,1980, at Lake Placid.
He was born in Buffalo,March 14 1913, a son of Clifford L. and Gladys E. (Elliott) Whiting.
He was married to Mary McKeever, on January 5, 1937, and snd she survives along with a son, J. Robert Whiting, of Sacramento,California; a daughter,Mrs. Marilyn Andrew, of Moraga, California; and two grandchildren.
Mr. Whiting attended the University of Pennsylvania, Indiana,Pa.,Oneonta State Colgate University and Utica College. He was a teacher in the Moravia and South New Berlin and presently served as a psychiatric tecnitian at Bassett Hospityal, Cooperstown. He was a member,treasurer and trustee of Edmeston Second Baptist Church; member of the Edmeston Fire Company;and a member and vice-president of the Edmeston Library Board.
He attended the Bedford schools and was graduated from high school in 1931. He was an outstanding athlete and varsity football player throughout high school. He lived n Bedford and worked for Sealtest during the late 1930s and early 1940s.
Funeral services were held on Sunday,February 17 at the Edmeston Second Baptist Church with Rev. John Blackman officiating. Burial was in Bedford Cemetery.
