SHARPSBURG - James Eugene "Heavy" Anderson Sr., 72, of 16509 Woburn Road, Sharpsburg, Md., died Sunday, May 2, 2010, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, Md.

Born Sept. 28, 1937, in Williamsport, Md., he was the son of the late Richard and Mary Viola Davis Anderson.

He was a 1955 graduate of Williamsport High School.

He was employed by Elwood's Auto Exchange of Smithsburg, Md., for 45 years until his retirement.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include
wife, Rhea Margaret St. Clair Anderson, married Dec. 30, 1967, of Sharpsburg;
son, James E. Anderson Jr. and his fiance, Shannan J. Poole, of Sharpsburg;
sister, Bonnie Gossard of West Virginia;
grandson, James E. Anderson III; and
granddaughter, Donja M. Anderson.

He was predeceased by one sister and one brother.

The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open after noon Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends.

Graveside services will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport, on Friday, May 7, 2010, at 11 a.m. Rufus Martin, a friend of the family, will officiate.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to the family, c/o Rufus Martin, 18220 Mansfield Road, Keedysville, MD 21756
