Then she and Loyd moved to the farm near Strong City on which they lived and raised their 7 children. They retired and moved to Cheyenne in 1966 where Bertha resided until the time of her death.
Bertha had many special qualities and a wide range of interests. She believed you could always find something good in everybody. She had had an unusual sense of humor and brought laughter to any situation. She believed strongly in the young people - as was shown by her support of all school projects and activities. She was someone the young could relate to. She particularly special to her grandchildren who always felt they could confide in her and benefit from her wisdom.
She loved her sons and daughter-in-law as her own children and frequently told each of them, separately, they were her favorite. Bertha had a gift for making each person feel special and maybe that was because they really were to her.
Bertha enjoyed reading and traveling and she loved to paint in oils for many years and even taught classes for a time and was a charter member of the Cheyenne Art Guild. During the past few years she produced many beautiful china paintings which will be treasured by her family and friends.
