Doris Brown,100,of Hazleton entered into rest on Saturday morning at St. Luke Manor,Hazleton.
Born December 13,1912 in Chambersburg,she was the daughter of the late James Francis Girard and Bridget(Brislin)Giard.
She was a graduate of Hazleton High School and McCann School of Business. Doris spent her professional career as a secretary at Traders Bank,Hazleton. She retired as an employee of PNC Bank.
Throughout her life, Doris was a highly devoted book reader. Her passion for literature was highlighted by decades of loyal membership with the Hazleton Area Library,whose books she read into the final day of her life.
Most recently she was a member of Annunciation Parish at St. Gabriel's Church,Hazleton,and was previously a member of the former Holy Trinity German Church,Hazleton.
Preceeding her in death,in addition to her parents,was her husband,Ray Brown.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Gabriel's Church,Hazleton.
Interment will be in St. Gabriel's Cemetery,Hazleton
In leu of flowers,donations may be made to the Hazleton Area Library.
Arraingments are under the direction of the Boyle Funeral Home.
