My memories of Aunt Jitty are limited, as we didn't see our Great Aunts that often. We tended to visit a couple of times a year. We called her Aunt Jitty and not Melissa, to this day I don't know why. She was a tiny very petite lady, she was soft spoken, always well dressed with a twinkle in her eyes. When we visited we kids had to be pretty still, as she and her sisters with whom she lived had many beautiful and very breakable antiques about the apartment. Their apartment was upstairs and so running about would cause noise for those living below and, after all, running about was an outdoor activity and not an indoor one. I remember being very impressed that she had been a nurse. It wasn't all that common in those days for women to be educated.
