Fern Gunderson Anderson Nesbitt, 96, of Virginia died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at St. Michael's Health and Rehabilitation Center in Virginia.

She was born June 11, 1916, in St. Petersberg, N.D. to Alvin and Clara (Ulberg) Gunderson and had resided in Virginia since 1917, except for living in California for nine years.

Fern was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Virginia and worked for Cluett-Peabody in Eveleth and Virginia, Diamond Calk Horseshoe Company in Duluth, and was a homemaker.

Fern loved to shop, play bingo, sew, watch the Vikings, but especially loved her dogs.

Survivors include four children: Burton (Diana) Anderson, Sheldon Anderson, Bonnie Devescovi and Arthur Nesbitt; 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; and special friends, Irene Peterson and Ardith Sigmund.

Fern was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Carlyle Anderson in 1990, and Arthur Nesbitt in 1979; one son, Gary Anderson; one grandson, Leonard Anderson; son-in-law, Peter Devescovi; one brother, Armour Gunderson; and two sisters, Vivian James and Dawny Carlson.
