Wanda Jo (Fausch) Soucek, daughter of Calvin Robert "Bob" and Lila L. (Dillin) Fausch, was born January 7, 1945, at Red Cloud, NE. Wanda died Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA.

Wanda spent her early childhood years on the family farm near Guide Rock, NEA., where she attended rural school. Later, she moved with her family into Guide Rock,NE., where Wanda graduated from Guide (NE.) Rock High School in 1963. After high school, Wanda attended beauty school, and became a beautician and also worked as a secretary at Guide Rock (NE.) Public Schools. It was during her time working at the school that she met her future husband, Marvin R. Soucek, who was a teacher at Guide Rock, NE. On May 21, 1969, Wanda and Marvin were married at Nelson, NE., and shortly after marriage, the young couple moved to the Soucek family farm west of Verdigre, NE. Wanda would spend the rest of her life working side by side with Marvin on their row crop and cattle feeding operation, and for a time after moving to the farm, worked as a beautician at Vlasta McElhose's "Ritze Beauty Shop" in Verdigre, NE. Wanda and Marvin were blessed with two children, Christy and Kevin.

Wanda was a member of the United Methodist Church in Verdigre, NE., where she was very active in various aspects of the church, and served as a youth leader for many years. Wanda served as the greeter for countless Bloodmobiles in Verdigre, NE., was involved in the community chorus, and served for many years as a poll worker for the Knox (NE.) County Election Board. However, her greatest loves were spending time with and cooking for her family and friends. Wanda loved to serve as hostess, and over the years, served hundreds of home-cooked, from scratch meals seasoned with care and love. Her pies and baking talents were well known throughout the area. Wanda's kind, caring, loving, and warm hearted nature will be truly missed by all that were fortunate to call her wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

Wanda's life and memory are forever cherished by: husband of over 43 years, Marvin R. Soucek of Verdigre, NE.; daughter, Christy Soucek of Hastings, NE.; mother, Lila Fausch of Superior, NE.; sister, Louise "Liz" (husband Dave) Petsch of Guide Rock, NE.; brother, Tom (wife Barbara) Fausch of Lincoln, NE.; sister-in-law and brother-in –law, Marlene (husband Ken) Meyer of Creighton, NE. and Dr. Richard (wife Nancy) Soucek of Seward, NE. and a host of relatives and friends.
