225 GRANDCHILDREN, RIMBEY RESIDENT, 93, PASSES AWAY;
Mrs. Alvina Clisty Adams - known as "Grandma" Adams throughout the Lacombe district, - passed way Tuesday of last week at the three-way convalescent hospital at Rimbey. She was 93 years of age. Born at Horsehead, New York, in 1861, Mrs. Adams was married on March 26, 1876, at Mescota, Michigan. She moved, with her family, to Lacombe in 1895, and settled on a homestead eight miles southeast of Lacombe. In 1909, Mrs. Adams and her family moved to Rimbey district, where they have lived since. Grandmother of 225 children, Mrs. Adams is mourned by eight children, four having predeceased her. They are: Vet Adams, Lacombe; Dave and Frank Adams of Rimbey; John Adams of Mercoal; Mrs. Gilbert Nelson, Winfield; Mrs. Pearl Leighty, Columbia Falls, Montana; Chum Adams, Rocky Mountain House; Mrs. R. S. Ogilvie, Lacombe. There are 60 grandchildren, 136 great-grandchildren and 29 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services for the highly-regarded old-time resident was held at Rimbey last Saturday, on her eldest son's birthday. Pallbearers, all grandchildren, were Bill Adams of Rocky Mountain House; Elmer Nelson, Winfield; Ted Leighty, Columbia Falls; Peter Ogilvie, Sylvan Lake; Willard Nelson, Edmonton; and Kenneth Adams, Lacombe. Honorary pallbearers, great-grandchildren of the deceased, were Henry Lamberus, Rimbey; Wayne Farham, Rimbey; Donald Pierson, Bentley; Emil Hvamb, Ponoka; Joe and Robert Bodenham, Winfield. Three great-granddaughters, Phylis Adams and Betty McCrae of Lacombe, Glenda Pierson of Bentley, rendered a special trio, "Beyond the Sunset." Buried @ Mount Auburn Cemetary, Rimbey, Alberta, CAN.
