Leone F. "Toot" Dirnbauer (nee Bunders), a longtime resident of Willow Park in Waukesha, was born on the family farm to Florence (nee Trautsch) and Frank Bunders in Wauzeka on June 26, 1920. She was born to eternal life Saturday, June 28, 2008, at LindenGrove in Waukesha after her three-month battle with cancer.

Leone had been a bookkeeper at Nitz Hardware and retired in 1985 from M&I Wauwatosa State Bank in Elm Grove, where she had worked as a bank teller. She had been a former member of St. Bernard Parish in Wauwatosa and an active member of St. William Catholic Church in Waukesha. Leone will be remembered as a passionate gardener, sewer and knitter, as well as an avid bowler for Mulder’s Red Bell.

Leone was the beloved mom to Jim and Dianne Dirnbauer, Chris and Dan Blask and Linda Dirnbauer; treasured grandma to Romy and Brendan McCarthy, Cheri Ann and Christopher Rack, Megan and Ben Keepman, Ryan and Michele Blask, Chad and Elizabeth Ramskugler and Corinne and Greg Rosen; proud great-grandma ("G-G") of Keagan and Brynn McCarthy, Owen and Lily Keepman, Alexander and Benjamin Rack and Brody Blask; and the loving sister of Marie Kolb Teeter of Mount Carroll, Ill. Her sisters-in-law, Zenith Bunders and Carol Dirnbauer, and fond cousins, nieces, nephews, many caring card-playing buddies, friends and neighbors further survive her.

Leone was preceded in death in 2002 by her brother, Lyle Bunders of Prairie Du Chien.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the 12:30 p.m. funeral service Thursday, July 3, at the Wisconsin Memorial Park Family Center, 12875 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield, with entombment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to LindenGrove Foundation, St. William Parish or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.

Our gratitude to the compassionate staff and administration of LindenGrove in Waukesha, who helped her and all of us through her final journey back home to our Lord, along with the help of all her family and friends.
