Genealogy note as researched by Roberta Henton (nee Penney): "It appears that Thomas Smith and his 2 surviving daughters, Sarah Anne and Susanna (Susan) Smith, emigrated to USA in 1851, settling in Lenawee County, Michigan.
"Sarah Anne married Roswell Hicks and they had a son Arthur P. Hicks. Sarah died in childbirth in 1879 at Rome, Lenawee, MI aged 38 years."
After Thomas Smith died in 1851, the sisters were reared by William & Betsey Powers as confirmed by the 1860 for Decatur, Van Buren Co., MI census. Their relationship (if any) is unknown.
FamilySearch.org has Sarah Anne as Roswell's second wife, following Mrs. Charlotte M. Hicks who died in 1864; also supposedly buried this cemetery.
