Sister Mary Salome Andelfinger

Sister Mary Salome left us in the same way she lived her life…..Quietly and without causing any unnecessary attention to herself.

Because her death was so unexpected, it was a shock to everyone when she was found, but it was also a great grace that Sister did not have to linger with pain.

Right up to the very day she died Sister was doing what she had done for others her entire life…..giving joy to others by her kind thoughtful ways. She must have been working on a baby set for one of the employees that very day, for the tiny sweater and cap were found in bed with her. All that was needed yet was to have two strands of yarn cut.

Sister's life began in Philadelphia where she learned from her mother all she needed for her future ministry, that of being a homemaker. For 70+ years Sister Mary Salome used her talents and skills lovingly caring for her Sister companions. She once commented, "I'm not afraid to die. I feel I've tried my best in everything I did, and this is all that God asks of us."

In October we celebrated Sister's 75th Anniversary as a Sister of Christian Charity, and now on her real day, June 29th, she can have a glorious heavenly celebration with her Divine Bridegroom Himself, with Mother Pauline, all our Sisters already in heaven along with her family.

What a blessed reunion!
