DAVENPORT - Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Solis, 73, a resident of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Honoring her wish, cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be Tuesday June 30, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Solis died Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Manor Care at Commerce Blvd., Bettendorf.

Maryarlene Audrey Dye was born May 8, 1936, in Moline, the daughter of Walter and Madge (Van de Kere) Dye. She was united in marriage to Gabriel V. Solis on August 3, 1956, in Moline. Mary worked as a medical transcriber at Mercy Hospital, retiring in 2005 from the Radiology Group Imaging Center in Davenport. Mary enjoyed gardening, cooking, and watching her children and grandchildren in their sporting events and endeavors. In her youth she was a finalist as Ms. Moline in the 1950's and performed as a jazz and folk singer at nightclubs and churches in the Quad Cities. Mary loved traveling to see relatives throughout the country, was an active member of St. Anthony's Church, and was passionate about music, politics, and Chicago sports.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Catholic Church Building Fund.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Gabe; their children and their spouses, daughter, Sabrina and David McCracken, Bettendorf, sons, Stephen Solis, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Thomas and Shannon Solis, Soulsbyville, Calif., Gabriel Jr., and Katherine Solis, Little Rock, Ark., Quentin and Shelly Solis, Kalamazoo, Mich.; 10 grandchildren, Rachel, Audrey, Nicci, Sophia, Tawny, Toi, Sabrina, Dustin, Levi, Elliott, and Elian; as well as numerous other loving in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Her parents, a grandson and her siblings preceded her in death.
