FINAL RITES FOR MRS. ADELLE HUGG
ONE OF THE LARGEST FUNERALS IN HISTORY OF CITY MONDAY AFTERNOON
Honoring the memory of Adelle Glasscock Hugg, friends of Shamrock and many nearby towns gathered in one of the largest funerals in the history of the city Monday afternoon.

Mrs. Hugg died Saturday night at 8:22 o'clock from burns received a week before, Friday, March 2, in an explosion of cleansing fluid at her home at the Columbian Gasoline plant west of town.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. T. Glasscock of this city. Hugg, who was also severely burned in the explosion, was able to be moved to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Hugg, Saturday from the hospital. Although physicians at first held some hope for Mrs. Hugg's recovery, she became worse the last of the week and her death was not unexpected.

The Rev. C. E. Jameson held the funeral services at the First Methodist church Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock, after which interment was made in the local cemetery. The local Rebekah lodge of which Mrs. Hugg was a member, paid her final respect in a ceremony at the services. The Pampa lodge members also were present in a body for the funeral.

Adelle Glasscock Hugg was born October 1, 1910, at the old family home 4 miles southwest of town. She was converted and joined the Methodist church at the age of nine during a revival meeting held here, and since then had served as a devoted worker in the church and Sunday school. At the time of her death she was superintendent of the Intermediate league. She also was chaplin in the Rebekah degree team and a leading worker in the Rebekah lodge. She was graduate of Shamrock High School with the class of 1927, having taken an active part in Glee club, basketball and other school activities during her school years.

Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Hugg is survived by a small son, Billy, one brother, John Glasscock of Shamrock, and one sister, Mrs. Jess Clay of Borger. Out-of-town relatives here for the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. Price Beach and son, Billy Len, and Mrs. Lannie Hines of Graham, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Nowlin, Mrs. O. M. Nowlin, Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Nowlin and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Woods, all of Rocky, Okla., Mr. and Mrs. Lee Nowlin and daughter of Hedley and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Nowlin of Port, Okla.
